“On closing number “Pause” Kuhn submerges his feral drumming in so much distortion that at certain times it sounds like waves of feedback have obscured any trace of a beat. The rest of Difficult is, for the most part, far more accessible, and “Neighbours Below” kicks the album off on a particularly high note as Kuhn’s barreling drum patterns—which sound like sped-up boom-bap beats that employ empty trash cans—are reminiscent of Death Grips’ aggro noise-rap.”
